One of those very college things. I had procrastinated on a painting project until the day before it was due, so I ended up pulling an all-nighter in the art room trying to finish it, ha!
At some point I needed a break, so instead of resting, I grabbed my camera. I started trying different poses under the single overhead light, playing with the shadows, the chair, and the shape of the naked male form.
It was spontaneous. At 5:00am, I was tired, a bit delirious, and just experimenting to see what worked. For a while I stopped working on the painting and became the art instead. Looking back, I really like how simple it is: one room, one light, one figure, and a lot of shadow.
