Made to Glorify

One of my very first nude photos.

I was eighteen years old, and even then I was drawn to getting naked in the woods. There was something freeing about it. No people. No noise. Just the trees, natural light, and me. I remember raising my arms toward the sky and feeling something bigger than myself.

Glory to God.

I am so small in this photograph, which I like. The trees tower above me and the forest seems to go on and on. I am one small person standing in the middle of creation, reaching upward.

I can see how much of what would eventually become Nude Soul was already there. I believe we are made in the image of God, the Imago Dei, body, mind, and soul. My photography has become one way I thank God for the body He created, notice His presence in creation, and try to reflect His love through the artwork I make.

Years and years later, the purpose really has not changed much. I want my photography to glorify God. I want my life to glorify God. I want to share His love.

Somehow, as a teenager, I was already beginning to figure that out.

God above. Creation around me.
