Nude male figure standing in the sand as sand bursts upward around his body.
Sandburst

There is something about sand and the human body that has always fascinated me. Shaped by movement. Ever changing. A footprint disappears. A dune shifts. Our bodies do too.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We are here for such a small moment in time, and there is something freeing about remembering that. I do not want to spend the time that I’m alive ashamed of who I am or the body God gave me.

During this photoshoot I dug into the grittiness and play of sand. Throwing it. Pouring it. Rolling through it. Letting it cover me and fall away again.

Revelation comes from the idea of unveiling, uncovering, laying bare. That feels right to me here. These photographs are about more than nudity. They are about being uncovered before God, before nature, and before myself.

The dunes can hide and reveal almost at the same time. One moment the human figure stands clearly against the landscape, and the next it is covered in the same earth beneath its feet. There is vulnerability in that, but also freedom. Not needing to hide. Not needing to prove anything. Simply being present.

I keep coming back to the idea of a world where being comfortable in our own skin is not something strange. A world where people are less afraid of being seen, less afraid of being different, and more willing to value one another as they actually are.

I am reminded that I am not separate from creation. I am part of it.

Nude Soul

I am temporary, but I am here. I am changing, but I am still myself. I came from dust and someday I will return to it. In the meantime, I want to live well, love God and others well, create things, play in the sand, and grow into the man God is calling me to be.

To breathe deep in the freedom of being.
