More and more, I was looking to integrate the nude form into a beautiful environment. I love to hike and explore beautiful places and I was finding out how much joy it brought me and how scenery seemed to be enhanced by nudity. I was realizing that I liked to create images where the nude fit the scene rather than seeming forced, or just about the nudity. God created nature and created the human form without clothing. It seems the most natural to be nude in nature! And for me, being nude in nature is where I could feel God’s love so deeply.
Upper Bridal Veil Falls is also not exactly an easy place to wander into. Reaching it takes some scrambling through the steep, wet forest of the Columbia River Gorge, which makes arriving at the waterfall feel like discovering a secret place. The falls drop about 80 feet over a broad basalt ledge, surrounded by moss, ferns, trees, and rushing water. A beautiful hidden place in God’s creation.
